Satisfy your inner architect and set the dinner table with these platters, plates, mugs and linens embellished in blueprint-style floor patterns. The Floorplan collection’s graphic black-line drawings depict just about every type of urban abode available, from the post-college studio to the uptown penthouse. Created by the design studio at Fishs Eddy, the popular housewares outlet in New York City’s Flatiron district, the domestic dwellings are drawn to scale, the patterns featuring tile flooring, curved staircases and kitchen appliances. According to Sara Mills, who worked on the design team with Fishs Eddy owner Julie Gaines, the iconic styles have appeal, no matter what size place you live in.
“You might have a studio you can afford, but you can also dream about the big one on Park Avenue,” she says. “Customers are putting them all together and having fun with them.” In other words, why rent when you can own? The stackable pieces are made of sturdy china and are safe to use in the microwave and dishwasher. Prices range from $7.95 for the 5-inch square studio plate to $32.95 for the 12-by-16-inch penthouse platter. A nifty $10.95 mug is encircled with an elevation drawing. You’ll also find matching coasters, napkins, dishtowels and a plastic tote bag.
