Spooky times at Heritage Square Museum

More than 700 people turned out last weekend for Heritage Square Museum’s Halloween and Mourning Tours, which included a faux funeral procession led by Damian Stellabott, above, and stories inside the 1887 Hale House, right.

The event drew a portrait of how people in Victorian times coped with death:

Black clothes.

Mirrors covered with black cloth.

Photographs of dead loved ones styled to make the dearly departed look merely asleep.

On Halloween, Heritage Square Museum will have trick-or-treating for children 1 to 12 with a parent. Festivities run from 4 to 7 p.m.
