A woman was shot in the upper body while driving on the 170 Freeway in North Hollywood early Friday evening.
Another vehicle pulled up next to her and opened fire shortly after 7 p.m. near Sherman Way, said Los Angeles Police Department spokesman Cleon Joseph. The motive for the attack was unclear.
The woman was able to pull off the freeway and call for help. She was taken to a hospital and was receiving treatment Friday evening. A source with knowledge of the incident told The Times her injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
The assailant fired multiple rounds at the woman’s vehicle, police said. A child riding with the woman apparently was not hurt, according to initial reports.
