Actress Lindsay Lohan’s probation for jewelry theft was revoked Wednesday by a judge after prosecutors charged her with three misdemeanor counts accusing her of lying to Santa Monica police about whether she was driving a Porsche that collided with a dump truck on Pacific Coast Highway.
The revocation came as Lohan’s attorney, Shawn Holley, appeared before a judge Wednesday at the Airport Court on behalf of the 26-year-old actress. The case will return to court Jan. 15, when a date will be set for the revocation hearing and arraignment on the new charges.
The judge will decide in the new year if the actress’ actions amount to a violation punishable by jail time. Lohan is on probation after pleading no contest to misdemeanor grand theft stemming from stealing a necklace last year from a Venice jewelry store.

Lohan was not required to appear in court Wednesday because the alleged crimes are misdemeanors, the judge noted.
L.A. city prosecutors on Tuesday filed paperwork to revoke Lohan’s probation after she was charged by Santa Monica authorities in connection with the accident in June. The move means Lohan could be back in jail -- as the judge in her case has repeatedly threatened if the actress committed another crime.
She faces up to 245 days in jail if the judge seeks the maximum punishment. She has been to jail four times in recent years for various violations of the probation terms set after a conviction in 1997 of driving under the influence.
Lohan was charged this month with three misdemeanors for allegedly lying to Santa Monica police in connection with the PCH accident. The charges came after the ‘Mean Girls’ actress was arrested in New York on suspicion of third-degree assault, a misdemeanor, for allegedly punching a woman in the face at Club Avenue in Manhattan’s fashionable Meatpacking district. Santa Monica Police Sgt. Richard Lewis told The Times this month that the department’s investigation had determined Lohan was driving the Porsche, contradicting statements the actress made to law enforcement officers after the crash.
