Swiss will hand over Salinas bank funds to Mexico

Swiss authorities will hand over to the Mexican government $74 million from bank accounts linked to the brother of former Mexican President Carlos Salinas de Gortari, the Justice Ministry said Wednesday.
The ministry statement said the money is ‘clearly of criminal origin,’ reports the Associated Press this morning.
The money was in accounts that were frozen in November 1995, when Swiss investigators first suspected the funds had come from drug traffickers.
