Kate Middleton

spent Thursday pouring Champagne with Prince William -- the bubbles were to christen a new lifeboat, but the real special occasion was the probable duchess-to-be’s first act of royal duty.

The couple attended a dedication ceremony for a new vessel in the Royal Lifeboat Institution fleet in Anglesey, North Wales, where William is stationed as a military pilot and where the two will live after the wedding.

Middleton pleased crowds in a smart brown coat and festive headpiece, while Wills simply beamed.

‘The majority of people don’t bat an eyelid,’ a local woman told People magazine of Kate’s residence in the town. ‘She was shopping in Tesco’s the other day, and she’s been in Waitrose [market], and people don’t bother her.’

She even got high marks for singing the Welsh national anthem, which translates to ‘Land of My Fathers.’
