We track asking prices as well as sales prices. Why? Because we like statistics. More important, we think asking prices better reflect the overall market than median sales prices. End of preamble, now the headline: Housing Tracker reports that median asking prices in the LA metro area were flat week-to-week at $545,000. That’s down 6.0% from last year’s level.

The total number of condos and single family homes for sale on the MLS system increased by 173 listings, to 37,511. That’s 27% higher than year-ago levels.
