Sen. Sam Brownback did his part to make the early campaign for ’08 all about the hot-button issues of the Bronze Age. The dark-horse GOP candidate will send a letter defending Gen. Pace’s remarks on gays in the military to heterosexual marriage champion-in-chief George W. Bush.

Even more of a headache is Hillary’s Clinton’s non-response to a question on her view on the morality of homosexuality: ‘Well, I’m going to leave that to others to conclude.’ It’s bad enough that stirring up anti-gay feelings toward an already marginalized population to get votes is practically encouraged; it’s equally troubling that a presidential hopeful who holds the opposite view (as Clinton does) can’t muster the ‘courage’ to answer a simple yes/no question on the subject.

One of the best commentaries on the issue belongs to none other than the f-bomber comedian Lewis Black. Note before watching -- the clip is very R-rated (for language).
