Ty Burrell wasn’t in character Thursday morning when we spoke to him about his supporting actor nomination for his work on “Modern Family.” But he was just as amusing.
“Well, I’m gonna go pretty wild. I’m going to burp my [6-month-old daughter]. I haven’t digested it yet,” he said. “My wife and I just got back to L.A. from vacation. Maybe we’ll unpack.”
Burrell faces competition for the statue from fellow cast members Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet, but he’s OK with it.
“I’m very, very excited about that,” he said. “These guys deserve so much. ... Let the campaign for Ed O’Neill start right here and right now. He’s the heart and soul of our show. It was a weird thing not to see him on the list. Maybe it will draw more attention to the fact that he should be. He is the core of the show.”
