Is a remote island in the future for the stars of ‘Bones’?

Dancing couples have infiltrated the television airwaves this week. But there is no dance more timeless on TV than the “will they/won’t they?” waltz. One Fox couple has definitely put in the practice.
With the premiere of “Bones” on Thursday, the romance between Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz) and Temperance “Bones” Brennan (Emily Deschanel) continues its spin around platonicity.
Right as it seemed Brennan might be open to the idea of a relationship with her funky sock partner, Booth returns from Afghanistan with (gasp!) a girlfriend — a journalist named Hannah Burley (Katheryn Winnick).
“I think Booth and Brennan’s relationship really took on steam last year,” Boreanaz said during a break on the set of an upcoming episode. “The two of them are so there … but yet so not there. Maybe throwing in this whole Hannah thing will kind of give the audience this breathing space to root for them even more.”
And it won’t be easy, Deschanel teased, because Hannah is a tough cookie to hate.
“Brennan is always honest from her perspective, and she wants Booth to be happy, so she’s not going to be catty,” Deschanel said. “She gains some respect for Hannah as she gets to know her because she’s a strong woman; she’s independent and a bit of an adrenalin junkie. There’s some bonding moments in a hospital room between Hannah and my character that I can’t get into … but she comes to respect her and like her … which makes it even worse and more complicated!”
But the complication is good, both actors insist. After all, no show wants to revisit the “Moonlighting” curse: The ‘80s series, starring Bruce Willis and Cybill Shepherd, was a ratings hit until the two finally got together in Season 3. But there comes a point when the waiting becomes pointless. As the show embarks on its sixth season, some fans are growing tired of the routine. But Deschanel says it’s all about the timing.
“I don’t think [creator] Hart Hanson will drag it out longer than he needs to,” Deschanel said. “I trust that he will make the right decisions on when to put us together. It’s a tricky thing … you don’t want it to become this weird dynamic. As much as everyone wants us to get together, you have to be really careful about that.”
The longing stares, moments of sweetness and bits of jealousy between the FBI agent and his forensic anthropologist partner aren’t likely to end with the addition of Booth’s new female companion — just kept to a minimum. But could there be another kiss? Deschanel was coy about it: “I can’t answer that question.’
“Look, last season was the season for Booth to kind of pine after Brennan; this season is the one for Brennan to pine — in her way — after Booth,” she said. “But she’ll do it in her way that’s very different than Booth, who sort of wears his heart on his sleeve. Brennan is very closed off.”
But both actors see a “happily ever after” in the couple’s future.
“I do think they are meant to be together,” Deschanel said. “And I think they will end up together. I think they are opposites in a lot of ways, but I think they complement each other; they have wonderful chemistry and a deep friendship with each other.’
Boreanaz had a different outlook on their future … a more tropical one.
“I see them on some remote island … trying to start a civilization and Booth losing his mind cause he needs a good cup of coffee.”
