‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ recap: Night of the head case

The “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” was a doozy Thursday night. Where should we begin? Camille Grammer continuing to harp about the whole Kyle affair, which she keeps dragging back up. Kim Richards’ awkward, awkward, awkward performance with “Single Gary” at her backyard barbecue. Her sister, Kyle Richards, went baby crazy.
Oh, and Adrienne Maloof appeared as the turquoise cowgirl.
It was the night of the head case.
Camille continued to be delusional, whining about how Kelsey wants to move to New York full time (hint, hint) in addition to her continued complaints about Kyle dragging out drama that she herself keeps resuscitating. She said that she just wants it to be over with. But if I recall correctly, in the New York City hotel, well before the spat in the restaurant, this was allegedly settled between the two of them. And yet, hmm, I’m pretty sure she’s the one who brought it up again with her mutterings of Why did you call me insecure?
She brings out an old trademark of the snipe-iest of the Housewives: the cabal of hangers-on. In a strain of Danielle Staub from last season of the New Jersey housewives, she trotted out the mangy-looking ladies who seem to get some kind of thrill by being a barnacle on a barnacle of a celebrity. These women are worse than enablers. They are the ones who perpetuate these absurd emotions, and prostrate in front of their poor, poor victim of a leader.
Speaking of feeling sorry for someone, Kim was –- wow -– as Kim as she could be. With her stuttering and odd manerisms, it was like she had been hitting the white wine all night at her barbecue. It was adorable, watching her last week with Lisa Vanderpump’s friend Martin. Now, as she continues on the dating scene, it’s painful to watch. She picks up this older man, Single Gary, at the grocery store, where they fought over chicken. Kim said she didn’t need anyone’s help. She can find herself a man.
She tried to be funny (that didn’t work). She tried to be cute (that didn’t work either). Hey, at least she didn’t disappear for what seemed like forever in the middle of her night with Martin.
The sad story of the night, though, was that of Taylor Armstrong. Taylor has demonstrated herself to be one of those people who wants to flash her wealth -– even if it appears she has the smallest home of all the Housewives -– and can be simply annoying. While Camille may just be crazy, Taylor, we’re finding, is damaged by her childhood and now with a cold robot of a husband.
In that casino-night fundrasier for domestic abuse, she shared her own story. She cried as she recalled the abuse in her own famiy that she witnessed as a little girl.
But it seemed awfully symbolic of her plight. Her husband’s eyes were glazed over as usual, as if he were in his sixth hour of watching C-SPAN. And as she bares her feelings to an expansive room, it’s seems like no one is paying her any attention.
