ABC’s ‘Wipeout’ will race to a new co-host as the obstacle-course show bellyflops into Season 5.
The producers have hired Vanessa Minnillo, formerly of MTV’s ‘Total Request Live’ and the syndicated ‘Entertainment Tonight,’ to co-host the show, in which the play-by-play commentary is done by John Anderson and John Henson. ‘Wipeout’ features ordinary contestants trying to conquer a course filled with obstacles such as giant inflatable balls and mud puddles.
Minnillo replaces Jill Wagner, who is leaving the show.
‘We will miss Jill, but are thrilled to welcome Vanessa to the team and excited to bring her enthusiasm to the show. She is a great host with a fun and natural energy that our viewers will love,’ ‘Wipeout’ executive producer Matt Kunitz said in a statement.
The fifth season will include winter and summer editions of the show. Currently, ABC is airing ‘Wipeout’ on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
