This week’s TV Movies

SUNDAY

From the animated antics of “The Simpsons” to the ratings powerhouse that is “American Idol,” a once-upstart network and some of its stars, past and present, will celebrate a quarter-century of TV goodness in “Fox’s 25th Anniversary Special.” (Fox, 8 p.m.)

She debunked the so-called “Seinfeld” curse with her hit series “The New Adventures of Old Christine,” so we’ve no doubt that Julia Louis-Dreyfus will have us laughing with her — as well as at her — in her new D.C.-set sitcom “Veep.” (HBO, 10 p.m.)

MONDAY

Haunting and exotic, the traditional music of Armenia casts a spell all its own. Canadian-Armenian filmmaker Hagop Goudsouzian surveys the sounds and the sights of his ancestral homeland in the new documentary “Armenian Echoes.” (KCET, 9 p.m.)

TUESDAY

If they can make it here, they’ll make it anywhere: Aspiring actors and other artistic types live, love and work dead-end jobs while hoping to catch that proverbial big break in the new drama “The L.A. Complex.” With Cassie Steele. (9 p.m. KTLA)

WEDNESDAY

What could be worse than being a contestant on “Fear Factor” … seriously, what? How about being subjected to some similarly creepy challenges in complete darkness? That’s what’s in store on the new reality competition “Total Blackout.” (Syfy, 10 p.m.)

THURSDAY

Live from New York — again — it’s “30 Rock.” The Tina Fey sitcom had great success with a live outing last season, so they’re gonna give it another go. And watch for more of those surprise cameos; we’d tell you who, only they wouldn’t tell us. (NBC, 8:30 p.m.)

FRIDAY

It’s a busy night for the self-appointed cetacean protectors at the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society with the new special “Whale Wars: Operation Bluefin” and the new docu-series “Whale Wars: Viking Shores.” (Animal Planet, 8 and 9 p.m.)

SATURDAY

Bosom buddies? Not likely. Tom Hanks is the middle-aged “Larry Crowne” in the middling 2011 dramedy and Joseph Gordon-Levitt is the hard-rockin’ “Hesher” in that edgy 2010 indie. Julia Roberts costars in the former, Natalie Portman in the latter. (HBO, 8 p.m.; Cinemax, 10 p.m.)
