Lakers need more from Andrew Bynum

What will the Lakers get from center Andrew Bynum tonight when they play the Grizzlies in Memphis?

During the first two games of the four-game trip, Bynum has given the Lakers nothing.

He was matched up against Miami Heat’s undersized 6-9 center, Joel Anthony, Friday night and had just four points and six rebounds. Bynum did have four fouls, limiting his time.

Saturday night, Bynum went up against perhaps the best center in the NBA, Orlando’s Dwight Howard. Bynum wasn’t a factor, scoring just three points and grabbing one rebound. Bynum once again was in foul trouble, finishing the game with five.

Bynum will face Memphis’ 7-1 rookie center, Marc Gasol, tonight. Gasol, the brother of Lakers forward Pau Gasol, is known for being physical.

It’ll be interesting to see how Bynum handles that.

But more importantly, it’ll be interesting to see how Bynum responds to playing back-to-back poor games.
