USC, however, lost out on All-American linebacker Vontaze Burfict, who signed with Arizona State. He had been a long-time commit.

According to Gary Klein of The Times, USC has received signed letters from lineman John Martinez of Salt Lake City, Utah Cottonwood, defensive end Kevin Greene from San Francisco Sacred Heart Cathedral, defensive end Devon Kennard from Phoenix, Ariz., Desert Vista and defensive back Torin Harris from Las Vegas Palo Verde.
