Before departing for a six-game road trip -- their longest of the season -- the Kings on Friday activated rugged winger Richard Clune (groin pull) off injured reserve and assigned him to Manchester of the American Hockey League.
Clune had a strong training camp and nearly earned a place in the lineup but the injury he suffered in an exhibition game held him back. When he’s fit again he could again push Raitis Ivanans for a spot on the fourth line.
The Kings’ lineup for their game at St. Louis on Saturday is expected to be the same as it was for their 6-3 victory over the Minnesota Wild at Staples Center on Thursday, with Peter Harrold playing on the wing and Trevor Lewis as the extra healthy skater. Anze Kopitar’s three-point game (one goal, two assists) gave him eight points in his first three games. It took him 12 games to get eight points last season.
