With the man who recruited him gone in the wake of another disappointing season in South Bend, no one should be surprised that Notre Dame’s Jimmy Clausen has decided to enter the NFL draft.
Clausen, who was a standout quarterback at Westlake Village Oaks Christian, told ESPN.com today that he decided to turn pro after talking with recently fired coach Charlie Weis.
Clausen and Notre Dame receiver Golden Tate are expected to formally announce their decisions to enter the NFL draft at a news conference at 11 a.m.
Clausen, a junior, passed for 3,722 yards and 28 touchdowns for the Fighting Irish this season. He’s passed for 8,148 yards and 60 touchdowns in his collegiate career.
