Angels don’t expect Kendry Morales’ injury to end his season

Angels Manager Mike Sciosica said Sunday that doctors have indicated that first baseman Kendry Morales will be able to return before the end of the season from the fracture in his lower left leg that he sustained when he landed awkwardly on his leap at home plate following his walk-off home run Saturday against Seattle.

Morales was placed on the disabled list and scheduled to undergo surgery today, with the Angels recalling Robb Quinlan from triple-A Salt Lake to take Morales’ spot on the roster. Mike Napoli was the starting first baseman against the Mariners, a position the catcher had not played since the minor leagues.

Scioscia met with his players before today’s game and established rules for celebrating victories.

‘We need to have some guidelines that will prevent some of the things we saw yesterday from happening again,’ Scioscia said. ‘The way we lost Kendry, it’s just sickening.’
