World Series Game 3: Torres homer cuts Rangers lead over Giants to 4-2 after eight innings

Andres Torres’ solo home run helped the San Francisco Giants keep clawing back but the Texas Rangers still lead, 4-2, after eight innings in World Series Game 3 on Saturday night.

Torres hit a fastball off Rangers starter Colby Lewis into the right-field stands at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington for his first homer of the postseason and, with two out, Lewis then hit Aubrey Huff with a pitch.

Lewis, who otherwise pitched extremely well, was replaced by reliever Darren O’Day, the right-handed sidearm pitcher, to face Buster Posey. Posey went to a full count but then grounded out.

In the bottom of the eighth, with Giants reliever Jeremy Affeldt still pitching, Josh Hamilton flied out. Affeldt was replaced with Ramon Ramirez, who got Vladimir Guerrero to pop out.

Nelson Cruz then got aboard on a fielding error by shortstop Edgar Renteria, but Ian Kinsler struck out to end the inning.
