USC sophomore guard Maurice Jones was named the Pac-12 Conference men’s basketball player of the week Monday following his 28-point performance in which he shot seven-of-seven from three-point range (a school record) against South Carolina on Saturday at the Las Vegas Invitational.
Jones has played well in the last three games, two of them USC wins. In that span, he has averaged 19.0 points and shot 57% (20 of 35) from the floor, including making 10 of 16 (.625) three-point shots.
The 5-foot-5 Jones is averaging 16 points this season. This is the Saginaw, Mich., native’s first career Pac-12 Player of the Week honor and the 34th all-time selection for USC.
