Amazon offers president’s 192-page budget plan for free to Kindle users

How about this for some bedtime reading?

Amazon has announced that the Budget of the United States Government, Fiscal Year 2011, and Economic Report of the President will be available as a free download in its Kindle e-book store starting Friday.

Kindle owners or those using an iPhone, iPod Touch, or Windows PC will be able to read the document from their respective devices.

Offering the president’s budget for free makes sense on a number of levels.

For one, it’s unlikely that anyone would actually pay for access to the proposal. Plus, knowing what President Obama is proposing in his budget might matter to some people. But the best reason might have little to do with economics and more to do with sleeping.

Reading materials have been used to put people to sleep for centuries. What better document to aid in falling asleep than a budget proposal?
