Long Beach: David Mam, 17

David Mam, a 17-year-old Asian youth, was shot several times and killed on Saturday, May 23, in the 1000 block of Hill Street in Long Beach, according authorities.

Long Beach police responded to a call about shots fired at about 10:45 p.m. They discovered Mam dead and another man injured.

Witnesses told police that Mam was standing with a group of people when a car drove up and a passenger fired several times into the group. The wounded man, whose name was not released, is a 19-year old white man from Signal Hill, police said.

The Long Beach Press-Telegram reported that Mam was a member of an Asian gang in Long Beach and may have been killed by a rival gang member.
