Not a bad start for QB Chris Potter in the first game of the post-Jimmy Clausen era at Oaks Christian. He passed for 101 yards, threw two touchdown passes and ran for scores three times –- all in the first half –- during the Lions’ record-setting 49-14 win Friday over Lompoc.

“I thought he played outstanding,” Oaks Christian Coach Bill Redell said. “He ran the team well, he was confident on the field and he made good decisions.”

Even better, it looks like this receiver-turned-quarterback is going to work out just fine for the Lions.

“He’s been a backup for three years and he played (quarterback) before high school,” Redell said. “We have two good quarterbacks in Isaiah Kempf and Anthony Vitto, but Chris is our starter this season. Unless he’s injured, Chris is our guy.’
