Already without star RB Mark Love, Maranatha lost starting QB Matt Schilz and playmaker Alex Clash on consecutive series to knee injuries in the first quarter.

The injuries and miscues by Maranatha on their punt formation have allowed St. Margaret’s to jump to a 28-0 lead with 2:16 left in the first quarter. Cameron Hiller has thrown for three touchdowns and rushed for another.

It should be noted that before the start of the game, St. Margaret’s head master announced that this was the first game to be played on a new turf -- which he said was completed ‘in something like 70 days.’ But the PSN’s Keith Lair and I agree that the field is lacking the traditional ‘sponge’ feeling most new fields have.

I’ll update you on the injuries as soon as I get more information.
