Where’s the offense?

As pleased as Long Beach Poly could be with its defense in a 38-9 victory over Carson on Friday night -- the Jackrabbits intercepted four passes with three leading to points, caused three fumbles with one returned for a touchdown and had several sacks and tackles for losses, most by senior end Darryl Johnson and senior tackle Jurrell Casey -- the offense still needs a little work.

Poly, which scored 24 points as a result of its defensive efforts, could have done better on offense by capitalizing on three first-half possessions that began in Carson territory but resulted in no points.

‘I wish we were a little ahead on offense than what we are, that’s all,’ Coach Raul Lara said. ‘It’s something we’re still working on. We’re not really on all cylinders yet, but we’re kind of like, this close. So I’m just hoping that, one day, we’re just going to break out.’
