I promised to take a look at some league races once the time came and, well, looks like the eight-team Citrus Belt League is dropping the green flag this week.

This race is probably easier to call than Reagan ’84.

Redlands East Valley has improved each week behind converted running back Chris Polk, a USC-bound receiver, and sophomore quarterback Tyler Shreve. The Wildcats scored a one-point victory over Riverside North, a four-point victory over Colton and a 30-point win over Compton Dominguez.

REV can practically sleep walk through its next five opponents, then should face its only real challenges in the CBL, a Nov. 2 meeting against Fontana Miller, and a Nov. 9 game against its city rival Redlands, both at University of Redlands.

Miller is off to a 3-0 start, posting wins over Palm Springs, Palmdale Highland and Compton Centennial by an average of 25 points. Redlands is 0-3, but the young Terriers have played a tough schedule, losing to Vista Murrieta, Carson and Clovis East.

If the Wildcats aren’t 10-0 at the end of the regular season, then somebody needs to be impeached.
