Swimming in traffic?

OK, I’m sitting in traffic, same as usual on Fridays en route to football games, munching on my pretzels, when I glance at the red Ford Mustang just ahead of me on the 405 freeway.

Along the rear window is a stenciled-letter decal that spells out CARVIN.

Swimming beat writer that I am in the spring, I wonder if it’s U.S Olympic swimmer Chad Carvin (that’s him to the right).

I tried to look through the tinted windows, and saw that the guy’s hair had the look of someone who’d shaken his head free of water and then let it dry that way, as swimmers often do.

But still, I couldn’t quite tell before I had to exit the freeway and head toward Culver City for the Centaurs’ intersectional game against Crenshaw.

I’m still wondering if it was him, heading down to his hometown of Mission Viejo.

But, oh well, it’s almost game time, and so, time to move on to football.
