Gardena Serra quarterback Ted Landers, a transfer from South Torrance, has made himself at home under center for the Cavaliers.

The 6-foot-4 junior has completed 41 of 68 passes for 616 yards and two touchdowns with three interceptions.

‘He’s just learning the offense, working hard to improve,’ Coach Scott Altenberg said. ‘He’s stepped in and done a good job. He’s got a ton of potential.’

Landers gets to show his former team what he can do when the Cavaliers (3-1), ranked 10th in the Southern Section’s Northwest Division coaches’ poll, face South Torrance (3-1), the eighth-ranked team in the same division, in a nonleague game on Friday night at Serra.

Landers’ arrival at Serra resulted in change of positions for senior Brent McCloud, a two-year starter at quarterback, and junior back-up quarterback Anthony Carpenter.

McCloud has moved to wide receiver while Carpenter plays free safety and still does occasional spot duty at quarterback. Statistics show each has adjusted nicely to his new position.
