In the last two weeks Charter Oakhas combined to score 105 points. The Chargers are, easily, the best team in the SGV right and they are only getting better. They feature one of the best, most exciting players in the region in running back Kanaan Snowden, and have added another weapon in sophomore Adam Muema.
Muema, who replaced an ill Snowden in the second quarter, rushed for 212 yards and three touchdowns in only 14 carries during a 55-28 victory over West Covina on Friday.
Snowden, despite what Coach Lou Farrar described as ‘Exorcist’-like vomiting during the game, had 123 yards -- not including an 85-yard carry called back by a penalty -- and one touchdown In only seven carries.
That’s depth. And that’s why they are No. 1 again this week.
Here’s my SGV top 10:
1. Charter Oak (5-1-1)...Play injured and wounded Los Altos this week.2. Diamond Ranch (5-2)...Must not look ahead to Nov. 8 (when they host Charter Oak).3. Arcadia (7-0)...Mas Ahmaz, por favor.4. South Hills (5-2)...Make that five, five-in-a-row.5. Glendora (5-2)...Impressive victory over Chino Hills puts them in Sierra driver’s seat.6. Muir (5-2)...Face Arcadia this week, winner will likely take Pacific League title.7. St. Francis (3-4)...Don’t look at their record, look at their schedule.8. Los Altos (4-3)...They’re hurting right now, but nobody wants to see them in playoffs.9. Bishop Amat (2-5)...See St. Francis.10. Duarte (6-1)...The season they’re having can’t be denied.
Next 5: 11. Northview (5-2), 12. Baldwin Park (5-2), 13. San Dimas (6-1), 14. Arroyo (5-2), 15. Blair (5-1).
