Some quick, very random thoughts after taking a look at the Inland Valley scores and the matchups heading into the quarterfinals.

First off, what brand of defense did Redlands East Valley and Murrieta Valley play Friday night? REV won, 60-53, with no indication overtime was involved! There had to be some serious arm tacklin’.

The Wildcats now have to board a bus to Norco for the next round. The only thing that can kill the smell of a bus full of a sweaty football players is a trip through Norco. This game might be worth it though. Norco’s getting healthy and this is the Cougars’ time of year.

Centennial hosts Glendora, an L.A. County team, so I haven’t been paying attention. I still say the Huskies to win by 30.

Chaparral gets another home game, this time against Miller. I could see this being a one-point game. Both teams just missed scoring big upsets to win their respective league championships.

Three weeks ago, I would have said Vista Murrieta was a lock for the semifinals. But the Broncos’ defense has been yielding points of late, giving a team like Santiago a chance, especially in its home stadium. I’ve sorta been looking forward to an REV vs. Vista Murrieta semifinal, but it’s not such a sure thing any longer.
