Serra has a 6-foot-8 freshman to look up to

There was a scramble after Tuesday night’s Redondo tournament game between Gardena Serra and Pacific Hills, and it involved a cellphone number. Club coaches, scouts and media were scrambling to find out the number for 6-foot-8 Serra freshman Kevin Johnson, who made a positive impression in his high school debut.

Let’s just say Serra Coach Dwan Hurt has a potential big-time player to build his team around, though it was senior guard Donte Archie’s 26 points that paced the Cavaliers’ to a 68-55 victory.
