Canyon Springs must have a connection at The Press-Enterprise. For the second time this week, the paper profiled a Cougar in advance of their Central Division semifinal Friday against Colton at Moreno Valley High (contrary to the story, the game is Friday and not Saturday).

Today’s feel-good story was on senior Dion Knox, the team’s starting running back. His claim-to-fame? Well, according to the story, he roughed somebody up three years ago while stealing his bike, spent 18 months in juvenile hall and was released midway through his junior year, just in time to join spring football workouts at Canyon Springs. Now, not only does he carry the football pretty well, he reminds younger teammates to stay out of trouble.

That story just made me tingle inside.

I’m curious, though. Which kid is standing on the sideline now that Knox has been set free? Better yet, I wonder how the kid who lost his bike, and probably a couple teeth, feels about Knox’s reincarnation from incarceration?

I’m kinda on the fence on this one.
