Oaks Christian (11-3) became only the second team in Southern Section history to win five consecutive titles -- Paraclete accomplished the feat in 1997-2001 -- with a 52-7 victory over Nordhoff (9-4-1) in the Northwest Division final on Friday at Newbury Park High.
Malcolm Jones rushed for 126 yards and two TDs in 10 carries as the Lions scored 28 second-quarter points to cruise to victory. Malcolm now has more than 2,000 yards rushing this season.
I really thought Nordhoff would do a little better, but four turnovers took them out of the game.
Now the waiting game begins for the Lions. If second-seeded Hart defeats top-seeded St. Bonaventure in the Northern Division finals Saturday at The Home Depot Center, Oaks Christian will almost certainly be chosen as the South Division III state bowl representative.
