Los Angeles High to hold memorial for Robertson

Los Angeles High students and faculty have scheduled a memorial service for fallen girls’ basketball coach George Robertson on campus at 2 p.m. Friday. Robertson, 39, died of a heart attack last Friday at a restaurant in Inglewood.

Interim Coach Herman Franklin said Wednesday that Robertson’s body would be returned to New Orleans, La., his birthplace, for burial.

Franklin, the girls’ coach two years ago before Robertson took the job, said the team would resume its season on Jan. 7 against Santee as scheduled. After that, he said, the season would be day-to-day.

‘Right now we have to get past the emotion [from Robertson’s death],’ Franklin said. He added school administrators will consider filling the coaching position after the season.
