‘To the Rack Showcase’ expected to be worth the drive to Pepperdine

For those hoops junkies out there that can’t get enough basketball, boy, do I have good some news for you. Cancel whatever plans you might have had for Saturday because there’s a must see, one-day boys’ tournament, To the Rack Showcase, at Pepperdine.

Taft and Compton Dominguez, teams ranked in The Times’ top 10, headline the event in a City vs. Southern Section matchup at 8:45 p.m. The Dons have plenty to prove in this one and figure to be motivated after a 70-54 loss to the Toreadors in the third game of the season.

In the undercard, so to speak, Demar DeRozan and Compton take on Fremont at 7 p.m. Things get started at 2:30 p.m. with Malibu playing West Adams Prep and there’s a couple more games in between. I suggest getting out to the campus by the beach early and preparing for what is shaping up as a classic day-long basketball fest.
