Steven Richard sparked the fuse. Helped halt the comeback. And reinforced the theory that the unranked Long Beach Wilson boys’ basketball team is top-25 material. Richard scored a team-high 19 as the Bruins broke out to a 12-point halftime lead in beating a solid Compton Centennial team, 70-66, Thursday night.

Wilson (10-5) has beaten one ranked team, Long Beach Poly, and two of its five losses have been courtesy of top-25 teams, Bishop Montgomery and El Toro.
