I know Canyon Coach Chad Phillips can’t be that happy with how his team played in the first half against Saugus. I mean, Phillips, with his green windbreaker on and his cayenne-colored buzzed head, had that look of ‘I’m going to let these guys have it a little’ as he walked into the visitor’s locker room during halftime at the Saugus gym.

Still, I hope he isn’t too tough on the Cowboys, even though they trail, 29-19, at halftime. Sure, there were defensive blunders in the first half, but Canyon isn’t giving up. They’re still in the game thanks to a consistent scoring effort spearheaded by 6-foot-8 center Cody Anderson.

Canyon has got to find way to kick it up a notch if they’re going to dig themselves out of this 10-point hole. And that means putting the scoring locks on Cameron Diorio, Mario Wright and Michael Cassio.

Also, if you missed tonight’s game and you live in the Santa Clarita Valley, the game will be broadcast on Time Warner Cable channel 20 tonight at 10.
