Girls’ soccer: Highland’s Johnson breaks school scoring record

USC-bound junior Samantha Johnson became Highland‘s all-time leading goal scorer Thursday night thanks to her two-goal effort in the Bulldogs’ 4-0 victory over Littlerock in a game shortened by intense rain. Johnson has a spectacular 22 goals on the season and 73 in her career, eclipsing the 71-goal team mark set by current Long Beach State forward Sahar Haghdan (2002-05).

Of course, none of this should come as a surprise to anyone who’s seen Johnson play over the years. She’s one of the most dynamic scorers in the region and one of the big reasons the Bulldogs are still my favorite to take the Golden League title.
