Oaks Christian has this one in the bag. Or does it?

Trust me, I did my absolute best to get ahold of Oaks Christian boys’ basketball Coach Tom Roanhaus tonight. The plan was to bait him into guaranteeing a victory over Santa Clara in a key Tri-Valley League game Friday. Unfortunately, I never got a call me back from him. He must have known I was up to something.

For a split second, I thought the ploy might work. Roanhaus loves to talk and his team has nothing to lose in this showdown. At one point, Oaks Christian was the odds-on favorite to win the league title before dropping games to the Saints and Oak Park over a four-day stretch in mid-January. The Lions are in third place these days.

Good thing is, O.C. still controls its own destiny and can create a three-way tie for the league championship with victories in its final three regular-season games. As for some bulletin board material… Oh well, I tried to stir up some controversy. How about a prediction instead? Lions win, 58-54, and Roanhaus & Co. jump right back in to the race.
