Not everyone was happy with Saturday’s City Section boys’ basketball playoff seedings, especially if they didn’t get in.

Count Elizabeth Coach David Galley among the disenchanted.

‘I want to express my anger and disappointment over the fact our team did not get chosen to participate in this year’s small schools tournament,’ Galley said in an e-mail. ‘My boys went 3-1 against small schools, only losing a close game to USC-MaST. We played 28 games this season, mostly against schools three to five times larger than ours.’

For the record -- or at least the one posted on MaxPreps -- Elizabeth was 4-22 overall and 1-11 in the Southern League, which includes playoff teams Santee and Bravo. Both are in the Invitational Division. One of the four teams Elizabeth beat was Maywood, seeded 12th in the Small Schools Division.

‘My boys had to endure some nasty defeats to schools we never should have played in the first place,’ Galley wrote. ‘Pursuing victory with honor? I don’t think so.’

-- Editor Bob: Mike won’t say it cuz he’s too nice, but no team with a 4-22 record belongs in any kind of playoff, no matter what the circumstances. Sorry coach.
