Girls’ soccer: SOCES’ Sanchez is one proud papa

It’s only February, but Friday must have felt like Father’s Day to SOCES girls’ soccer Coach Louis Sanchez.

His three daughters -- twins Kristian and Lauren, both seniors, and Leah, a junior -- play on the Knights’ soccer team. And Kristian scored the first goal in SOCES’ 2-0 victory over Foshay in the Small Schools Division championship game at Contreras High.

‘To come back and win the championship after losing last year (to Foshay) was nerve-racking,’ Louis said after the game. ‘The players kept asking me ‘are you mad?’ And I’d say ‘no, it was just hard to watch.’

‘And now I feel like crying.’
