You could call it a senior moment for University -- in fact, 10 of them.

There were 10 seniors on the Wildcats roster this season; six of them had played there all four years. That level of experience was a factor in University’s 48-41 victory over Eagle Rock in the boys’ City Invitational Division championship game Saturday in the Sports Arena.

That, and the memory of University’s loss to Bell last year in the Invitational playoffs.

‘This championship means a lot,’ said senior guard Kenton Lee, who led all scorers with 16 points. ‘Last year we were one game away before the loss to Bell. At first this year, we weren’t playing to our full potential. But we worked together as a team and built up to our potential.

‘By the time we got here (to the final) we could do our thing.’
