Mira Costa holds a one-point lead at halftime of the Southern California Regional Division II girls’ basketball final, 25-24, largely because of an 11-2 run midway through the second quarter. The Mustangs were down, 19-14, at the time. Whitney Daniels scored four in the stretch and finished with six in the quarter.
Megan Richardson has 11 points and Mikah Maly-Karros eight for Mira Costa.
Ayala’s scoring is more balanced. Ariel Marsh and Rhema Gardner each have six, and Rebekah Gardner has four -- 16 below her full-game average. Ayala shot only 25% from the field (nine of 35). Ouch!
