Monrovia football coach Steve Garrison, citing a desire to spend more time with family, is stepping down after 15 seasons on the job.
‘I just haven’t been able to make my family a priority,’ Garrison told the Pasadena Star-News. ‘It’s not easy, but when I think about my son and family and the fact I haven’t been able to attend family events, you realize what you’re missing. I know that this is the best move for myself and my family.’
Garrison, 47, will continue to teach at the school. The Wildcats were 7-7 and lost in the first round of the Mid-Valley Division playoffs last season. Monrovia was 111-56-6, won seven Rio Hondo League titles and made three Southern Section finals appearances during Garrison’ tenure.
The school will likely move fast to find a replacement, probably faster than Hacienda Heights Wilson, which still has a vacancy.
