Baseball: Simi Valley takes 3-0 lead in first inning

Simi Valley came into the Division I semifinals against Mater Dei having scored 29 runs in three playoff games, and the Pioneers’ hitters are showing no signs of cooling off.

Their first three hitters -- Brent Keys, Eric Bernstein and Brett Hale -- got singles off Mater Dei starter Ian McCarthy. After a sacrifice, Jonathan Meyer added another single. It’s 3-0 Simi Valley, and the Monarchs’ bullpen is busy.
