Fairfax and Van Nuys could be on collision course to meet in the championship game of the Watts Summer Games boys’ basketball competition on Saturday at Fairfax.
Fairfax will play Lynwood in one semifinal at 11 a.m. at Fairfax, with Van Nuys taking on Pasadena in the other semifinal at noon. The winners play at 2 p.m.
Van Nuys and Fairfax met in the opening round of the City Section playoffs last season. Fairfax won’t have its standout center, Renardo Sidney, this weekend. He’s in New York for a competition. Van Nuys, led by Victor Rudd and Willie Hankins, is looking to gain respect as a rising City title contender.
