It’s Brandon Connette’s first varsity start, but make no mistake about it -- the junior quarterback from Corona Santiago is already showing why college recruiters love him.
He has a 42-yard pass completion, a 32-yard run and a one-yard touchdown run to give the 13th-ranked Sharks a 7-3 halftime lead over No. 23 Esperanza.
He’s hanging tough even though two of his team’s starting linemen are out with injuries, including 6-foot-5, 310-pound Jordan Johnson.
