Kern Valley is helping to raise funds for the family of Vinnie Rodriguez at tonight’s game against visiting Boron. The Bronc boosters are donating all proceeds from a gas card raffle as well as from the sale of tri-tip and sausage sandwiches and Kern Valley sweatshirts.

Donations are also being accepted for the family of Rodriguez, the sophomore running back and safety who died Tuesday night from head injuries sustained four days earlier while making a tackle during a game.

Kern Valley also painted a ‘2V’ on the 50-yard line on each side of the field to honor the first initial and jersey number of the player his teammates called V-Rod. At the end of the game, the Bronc boosters plan to bring out balloons in the Bobcats’ yellow-and-black color scheme and have both teams release them at midfield.
