After seeing D.J. Morgan’s strong running, Birmingham running back Trajuan Briggs decided it was time to assert himself, and he scored on a six-yard touchdown run with 1:38 left in the second quarter. The conversion kick failed, so Taft holds a 7-6 lead.

Briggs broke off runs of 12, 18 and 13 yards during a 70-yard drive. The Patriots also got an exceptional 24-yard reception from Davontae Perry, who made the catch despite a brutal hit on the play.
