In a showdown between the top two baseball teams in the East Valley League, Verdugo Hills defeated Arleta, 4-2, Monday to improve to 3-0 in league and 6-1 overall.
Miguel Sanchez went two for four with a home run and Ian Wilson hit a home run for Verdugo Hills. Arleta dropped to 2-1 in league and 4-3 overall.
